🦏Rhino Collaring at Amakhala
“This Valentine’s Day, we had a date with a couple of rhinos who were due for a tracking collar upgrade in order to keep them safe. This mamma and her three year old daughter were perfect patients, even though they were both super muddy. After fitting their alert-sending anklets, they were both given a thorough health check, and as rhinos don’t have terrific eyesight, we repositioned them so that once the reversal agent kicked in, they’d not panic and find each other quickly 💛” - Lula in Africa
Rhino collaring is just one of the vital conservation efforts used to protect these incredible animals, with the Anti-Poaching Unit (including one of their dedicated K9s, pictured below) working tirelessly to ensure their safety.
The Mastertons Team had the extraordinary privilege of joining the Chipembere Rhino Foundation in the field, witnessing firsthand the crucial work being done to safeguard rhinos. From checking for ticks to collecting stool samples for the veterinary team, it was an unforgettable experience filled with core memories.
A heartfelt thank you to @chipembere_rhino_foundation for your unwavering dedication, as well as @williamfowlds, @jollygreen16, @ikhalavetclinic and @happily.lost.in.africa for your expertise and passion. And of course, a big thank you to the Amakhala team! 💛🦏
