From the careful selection of our green beans, to our time-honoured roasting methods, this constant pursuit of excellence has been unwavering. Right now, the international coffee industry is in distress. Global climatic events in key growing regions, overall reduced supply and significantly increased demand in the East have created a very difficult trading environment, perhaps even more so here in South Africa when you factor in the weak and volatile Rand and other domestic challenges. The cost of green coffee, irrespective of growing region or grade, has increased substantially over the last few years, but especially so in the last year, with no end in sight for now.

Our commitment to “quality, value and good business” has meant that over the last few years we’ve also implemented extensive food safety management systems and policies, to ensure that you only receive the best coffee experience with peace of mind. This commitment to quality, not just in product, but the way we do things is to safeguard you our customer and to ensure that best practices are followed.

In light of the above, we will regrettably be forced to adjust all of our coffee pricing effective Monday 10th February 2025 of between 10% - 15% across all House Blend coffees. All Custom Blends, especially those containing higher portions of Central and South American coffees, the regions where we’re seeing the highest cost increases, will be adjusted between 14% - 18%.

We are fully aware of the impact that a price increase may have on you and assure you that we’ve absorbed much of the increased cost ourselves, but this increase is now necessary if we are to be able to continue to provide you with the quality, value and experience that you’ve come to expect from us.

There are other cheaper coffee options out there, but I’m sure that you’ll agree that sometimes if it’s too good to be true, it often is. Regrettably our industry isn’t actively regulated, so there are many low-cost coffee brands and suppliers operating across South Africa offering heavily discounted pricing on coffee, where quality controls and standards, quality of bean, legal requirements and ultimately your wellbeing are perhaps an afterthought to profit and opportunity in a challenging industry and economy.
